Let’s join together - in the pursuit of sovereignty, to reduce individual families costs and to share experiences, skills, time.
We moved to Costa Rica in the pursuit of sovereignty for our family but we have found the harsh reality that going at it alone, anywhere in the world, is not a sustainable model and leaves no room for savings while also being very lonely at times. The community aspect is what we came here seeking, but it seems we need to create that still!

A peak into our life
Jungle Juice + Relax
“I want to quit school and start a juicing business” my 8 year old son declared.
Music to this mom’s ears. Jungle school never forced and rather a part time enrichment and choice. Appreciated yet not the forever path for us.
It’s time to play I decided. My new way given the space to be experimented with.
I created my son’s Monthly Quest born from his passion and strengths. Edges given space to expand. This time focusing on his brilliances: Leadership, Justice, Innovation. The Quest hands on, relevant to real life and it weaves in STEM, tons of physical challenges, mental challenges and structured experiments.
Here is how it’s going:
At 7am my son asked me if I could help him with his reading practice for the day. Once groans and tense moments now a source of connection and joy. He is in charge of his own day.
At 10am, he began hauled materials back and forth to the jungle, body tired but still going because mom, we need to keep working on our survival fort. He is choosing hard work over distraction.
At 1pm he begins designing his Juice Delivery Machine, deepening his explorations of pulleys and levers and catapult systems. He’s engaged and focused intrinsically motivated.
Tomorrow he collaborates with his sister. Her brilliances: Creativity, Animal Advocacy and Earth Guardianship weaving with his and they get a chance to share resources and pool strengths. She’ll design his Labels and he’ll help with the prototype of her animal shelter design.
At the end of the month, the efforts collide in a fall celebration offering fresh juice and raising money for animals of Costa Rica. They are collaborating and celebrating differences.
Now imagine this model but done within community.
All children celebrated and given a chance to shine, leading their own path.
Parents alive, time for Self and time for Family.
